Yajuan Zhang

Yajuan Zhang (Principal) Ms. Yajuan Zhang graduated at Shanghai Normal University in China for her Bachelor’s degree, majoring in English. She served as an associate professor at Ningxia Medical University, teaching university students English In addition, Ms. Zhang also served as the Deputy Director of the Foreign Language Department for the University. Ms. Zhang received her first Master’s degree from Ningxia University, China, majoring in Curricula and Teaching Theories. Her second Master’s degree majoring in TESOL was granted from SIT Graduate Institute in Vermont.

Ms. Zhang started her Chinese teaching career with CLSC in 2010. In addition, she has been teaching Chinese language and culture at public and private schools in the Connecticut. As a language-teaching activist, Ms. Zhang is passionate for exploring and implementing opportunities to bridge the connection between American students and Chinese language and culture.

Katy Myers (Art, Culture and Community Outreach Director) - was born in Taiwan (ROC) and came to US is 1971. She is a graduate of Parson's School of Design and has worked as assistant and substitute teacher for grades pre-K, K and I in Redding Elementary School. Katy lives in Redding CT with husband Tom and daughter Emily. Katy has been with CLSC since its inception in 2002 and has taught a variety of classes.

Hsuan-Hui Wang (Assistant to Principal)
My name is Hsuan-Hui Wang. I go by Amber as well. I am proud to be the Assistant to Principal and teacher at CLSC! I am from Taipei, Taiwan. I received a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Brandeis University and I am certified to teach Mandarin and math to 5th-12th graders in Connecticut.

I have a true passion for working with our young learners! Helping each child progress in all areas of their development—social, language, and motor. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive, fun environment.

I love to watch comedies, politics, and talk shows. Also, spend time with friends and family. I look forward to working together with you as partners in your child’s growth and development!
