Board Members

At any one time, the Board of Directors holds between 7-15 members (but always an odd number), each elected in May and serving for up to three terms of two years. Through the Board, in cooperation with the staff and its directors, the direction and management of the school is performed.

Jennifer Brola
Jennifer Brola, DPS, MFA (Co-Chairman) - Member Since 2018 - Jennifer is a Production Engineer at Blue Sky Studios, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios. At Blue Sky, her contributions focus on bridging between the needs of artists, production management, and technology. Likewise, she is an advocate for the value of bridging cultures. She holds a B.S. in Architectural Design from Thomas Jefferson University, an M.F.A. in Digital Production from Clemson University, a D.P.S. in Applied Computing from Pace University, and a Professional Certificate from the University of California at Irvine in Applied Project Management. To expand her knowledge in the domain of education, she is currently working toward an M.S. in Learning Design and Technology with the University of Maryland. Jennifer lives in Westchester County with her husband and son, who has been a CLSC student since he was 18 months old.
Sue Chang Sue Chang, MD (Secretary) - Sue is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she received her B.S., followed by her M.D. degree at Michigan State University. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Nephrology at Yale University where she served as a research fellow in the genetics of hypertension. She is in private practice with Metabolism Associates of New Haven, CT. She is also a clinical consultant for Abbott. As for her personal background, she is second generation Chinese, and her interest in the Chinese language stems from her childhood experience. Her two children, Nathan and Erica, were enrolled at the CLSC. She hopes to champion the ongoing drive to enrich the experience of our students within the CLSC community.

Gordon Fu

Gordon Fu (Co-Chairman) - Member Since 2018 - Gordon is an established marketing change-agent who currently works in marketing and sales for a leader in the worldwide medical technology market. He is a Communicator, Analyst, Planner, Product Launcher, International Businessman, Youth Advocate, and Surfer.

Emmelyn Kim
Emmelyn Kim (Director) - Member Since 2018 - Emmelyn is currently the Assistant Vice President, Research Compliance and Privacy Officer in Corporate Compliance at a large Health Care System in New York. She oversees research audits and investigations as well as regulatory affairs at the organization with over 14 years of experience in biomedical research and regulatory compliance. She has an M.P.H. from Columbia University, MA in Psychology (Behavioral Health Research) from Boston University, and is a Master of Jurisprudence, Health Law candidate at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Emmelyn is a Greenwich, CT resident and 2nd generation Chinese-American with a multi-cultural family. Her parents are from the Philippines while her in-laws are from Korea. She speaks a Chinese dialect fluently, Fukienese or Hokkien, and learned conversational Mandarin while growing up. Her children have been attending CLSC for many years, with a goal of becoming more proficient in speaking and writing Chinese, while enjoying learning more about the Chinese culture.
Patrick W. Regan Patrick W. Regan (Director) - Member Since 2015 - Patrick is an independent fine art consultant, private dealer and USPAP Compliant appraiser with a specialty in Chinese art and objects. He lectures on the contemporary art market and is on faculty at New York University’s SPS Art Business program. Patrick’s daughter has been enjoying the CLSC program for three years. Besides the important foundations of language that the classes have been providing her – the supportive teachers, engaging culture classes, and friendships with fellow students has given her excitement and confidence and to celebrate proudly the Chinese side of her ancestry. Patrick and his wife Tammy have been grateful for the involved and friendly network of parents and information that is shared as a part of the CLSC community. Now their son can’t wait to start the Chopstix program in the fall!
Jocelyn Yuan Riddle Jocelyn Yuan Riddle (Director) - Member Since 2015 - Jocelyn’s most recent position was VP of Marketing of High Ridge Brands as a member of the senior management team. She has over 20 years of classic training with increasing responsibility on building brands, business and teams after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Advertising & Communications. Her responsibilities range from setting corporate strategies, leading innovation pipeline, developing and executing marketing plans and managing financials in highly competitive consumer, retailer and regulatory environment for major corporations like Revlon, Sara Lee and advertising agencies to equity group start ups with Prestige Brands and most recently Brynwood Partners. Jocelyn is a Mandarin speaking second generation Chinese American who hopes to pass on an appreciation of Chinese heritage to her family. She and her husband Stephen reside in Greenwich, CT and both are highly involved parents in the community and at CLSC. Their son Silas began 4 years ago and is currently in Chopstix 3 and their daughter Avery is in Explorers 4.
Jennifer Wong Jennifer Wong Sherman (Director) - Member Since 2015 - Jenn is currently a consultant in the financial services sector, specializing in private capital raising for middle market companies. She started her career in Corporate Finance at Fox-Pitt, Kelton and then moved on to Houlihan Lokey where she was a Director in the Financial Institutions Group. She earned her Bachelor of Science with majors in Finance and Information Systems from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Jennifer also holds a degree in Music from McGill University. Jennifer was born and raised in Montreal, her family roots are in Hong Kong and Mauritius. CLSC has been the perfect place for her three daughters to learn Chinese academically and experience the culture socially.
Dora Sung Dora Sung (Director) - Dora is a financial services professional at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Dora had more than 20 years of Trading, Risk Management and Business Development experience in the areas of Commodities Trading. Her prior roles included Managing Director, Head of Commodities Trading North America at BNP Paribas. Dora received her BA in Economics from Jinan University in China, and a MBA from the University of Bridgeport. She also completed an Advanced Professional Certificate in Corporate Finance from New York University. Dora is actively involved in community service, women's leadership initiatives, and young professionals mentoring.

Jeffay Chang Jeffay Chang (Past Chairman) - Retired 2019 - During his time as CLSC Board Chair, Jeffay served as the East Coast Trust Strategist for the Goldman Sachs Trust Companies.  He was named Executive Vice President with responsibility over national marketing and sales in 2008.  Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in May 2004, Jeffay was a Corporate Vice President in the Private Wealth Services Group of UBS Financial Services where he provided counseling and planning services for ultra high net worth clients in such areas as wealth transfer and philanthropic planning, stock option exercise planning, and hedging and monetizing concentrated equity positions. Prior to UBS Financial Services, Jeffay was a Financial Planner in the Financial Planning Group of US Trust and before that was a Trust Officer in the Trust Settlement Department of US Trust.  Jeffay obtained his B.A. from Brandeis University and J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.  He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, New York State Bar Association, New York Bankers Association, Estate Planning Council of New York City and the Westchester Estate Planning Council.
Lisa Chu Lisa Chu (Past Director) - Retired 2020 - Lisa was a graduate of Tufts University with a B.A. in International Relations. She worked for several years in market research as a senior analyst addressing the needs of both international and domestic clients. As a 3rd generation Chinese American, it wasn’t until college that she began to embrace her Chinese heritage. During this time she enjoyed her first experience speaking and studying Mandarin and traveling to China and Taiwan. Understanding firsthand how difficult second language acquisition (especially Mandarin), in the adult years can be, she was intent on providing her sons with a strong foundation at an earlier age. She and her family resided in Rowayton, CT.
Richard Gegenwarth Richard Gegenwarth (Past Director) - Retired 2016 - Member since 2012 - Richard is a Director in KPMG's Advisory People & Change practice. He has worked in the Consulting industry for 20 years and has led and managed significant change management, organization effectiveness, talent management, and other human performance initiatives for a wide range of industry leading clients including Pharmaceuticals, Consulting & Services, Retail, Financial Services, Telecommunications, Products and Resources. He is experienced in curriculum design for corporate learning and knowledge sharing, training development, communications, culture change, and the development and retention of skilled personnel. Richard received his Bachelors from Vassar College and his MBA from the University at Albany, State University of New York. His wife, Daisy is from Taiwan and is also an active member of CLSC. They are committed to raising their two boys with an appreciation for her Chinese culture and to develop their Chinese language skills. They have been part of the CLSC community for 6 years, with both children starting from the Chopstix Toddler level.

Clara Hansen (Past Director) - Retired 2020 - Board member beginning in 2016.
susan-cropped_120x110.jpg Terri Kung (Past Director) - Retired 2016 - During her time on the CLSC Board, Terri had over twenty years experience in teaching English as a second or foreign language. Her experience extended to curriculum and program design, materials development, language teaching, teacher training and program management in the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Her field of expertise had been in teaching English for Specific Purposes to adults in the fields of business and science, but she has also taught general and academic English to adults and children. She had a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from University of Missouri-Kansas City and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Northern Arizona University. Terri lived in Harrison, NY with her husband, Darwei, and her son, Madison Chang-Ping, who is a former CLSC student.
